mixed media sculpture

This sculpture is a tribute to the 49 victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting. The gruesome black texture reflects the hardship involved in activism and fighting for one’s civil rights. The 7 colored pieces of tattered fabric mimics the state of a worn flag flown at half mast. This sculpture is installed above 49 stacked bricks in remembrance of the people who were killed during the homophobic attack.
