Still Life

These still life images are created on domestic surfaces. This includes fabric, furniture, floors, etc. Each still life or “vanita” is a nod toward the historic oil paintings containing fruits, vegetables, and hunted animals ready for the feast. Other than simply being pleasing compositions, this body of work explores the hunting culture I grew up in, but also an exploration of the stagnancy I associate with my upbringing isolated in the woods of northern Michigan as a queer person.
