Still Life

These still life images are created on domestic surfaces. This includes fabric, furniture, floors, etc. Each still life or “vanita” is a nod toward the historic oil paintings containing fruits, vegetables, and hunted animals ready for the feast. Other than simply being pleasing compositions, this body of work explores hunting culture from which I come from, but also an exploration of the stagnancy I associate with my upbringing isolated in the woods of northern Michigan.
